The Perfect Virtual Happy Hour

While recommendations might call for physical distancing, that doesn’t mean we need to socially distance too! Bring out those computers, phones, and ipads, friends. It’s time for the perfect virtual happy hour.

I don’t know about you, but through this season of staying home more, I’ve actually had the silver lining of more virtual hangs and connection with friends and family from all over the country. Another silver lining? More virtual happy hours than ever before, and I think I’ve got this thing figured out, so I am here to share my steps for a perfect virtual happy hour.

Step 1: Check your connectivity and dial in that wifi. No one wants a choppy virtual happy hour (buzz kill, anyone?).

Step 2: Prep all the snacks. My favorites? A fresh loaf of home baked sourdough, 2-3 cheeses, some salami, dry roasted salted almonds, and fresh strawberries from our garden.

Step 3: Choose your clean sips. My favorite happy hour beverage right now is anything from Scout & Cellar: clean crafted wine made from organic grapes with zero additives, leaving me feeling great the next morning to hit my Blue J workout and teach virtual flows. I’m especially loving the lower alcohol canned Epic Pursuit white wine spritzers and taking my virtual happy hours to the park or beach.

Step 4: Come exactly as you are. Want to get dressed up? Do it. Want to show up in your pjs (or shoot, even your birthday suit)? Do it. Perhaps another silver lining of this situation is that we’re embracing a little less focus on aesthetics, and a lot more focus on cherishing the things that matter most: relationships, solidarity, and connection with the ones we love in whatever way it feels right for us.

Cheers to more socially close virtual happy hours, more connection, and to you!
